Paris Griffon Bruxellois (NZ)
In 1992 I was given my first Griffon Bruxellois, a wee red rough bitch and she started my lifelong love affair with this delightful breed. From these beginnings I was encouraged to show and breed. I bred my first litter in 1995 and began showing in 1996. Learning to groom a rough (and a smooth) was a huge learning curve. Along the way though I have been fortunate to have had the support and encouragement from some amazing people and made some good friends.
Over the years I have had many memorable successes with breeding and showing here in NZ, Australia, and the USA under my prefix ‘Paris’ or the ‘Cricklewood / Paris’ combination. I look forward to many more years watching Griffons I have bred be successful, be it in the show ring, at obedience or the loved family pet. In more recent years my daughter Fern has begun to take an active part in the breeding and showing of the Griffons and has successfully competed with her Griffon, Molly, in Rally O and Canine Good Citizen.
My interest in judging began in 2013 whilst on a visit to the UK, when I was actively encouraged to sit for my Breed Specialist licence, which I gained in 2017 here in New Zealand. In 2019 I judged The Country Griffon Bruxellois Club of NSW’s Championship Specialty show (Australia). In August 2023 I attended the inaugural Canadian Brussels Griffon Club Breed Specialty. At this show I mentored attending judges in the Griffon Bruxellois breed. In September 2023 I judged the ‘Silver Fern’ Show for the Griffon Bruxellois Club of Victoria (Inc) Breed Championship show in Melbourne, Australia.
As well as being a Breed Specialist Judge and on the Open Show panel I have my Toy Group licence and can award Challenge Certificates / Tickets in the Toy Group.
I have been a member of The Griffon Bruxellois Club New Zealand (NZ) since 1996, am currently on the committee and am the Editor of the NZ club’s newsletter ‘Griffon Gossip’. I am Secretary for the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Dog Judges Association.
Thank you for the honour and privilege to judge the Petit Brabancon and Bolognese breeds at the forthcoming European Dog Show (April 2025). I am looking forward to the appointment.
